Sierra Canyon is the co-ed Pre-K–12 independent school in Chatsworth — about 1,200 students on two campuses across the street from each other. I tutor its applicants through the testing the file requires, and its enrolled students through the year — one-on-one, online or at your home. Every session is with me.
Clear Concepts Tutoring is an independent tutoring practice and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or partnered with Sierra Canyon School. I tutor students who attend or are applying to the school.
Different needs, different plans.
Path one · Applying
Applicants to grades 6–11 must submit standardized testing, but Sierra Canyon accepts results your student's current school already gave — ERB, CAASPP, MAP — from this school year or the previous two. Families without those, or who want a stronger number in the file, send the ISEE or SSAT instead; Sierra Canyon hosts the SSAT on November 14, 2026 and the ISEE on January 23, 2027. Applications are due December 15, 2026, scores by February 1, and the interview for grades 7–11 includes a fifteen-minute writing component. Decisions arrive March 12, 2027.
Path two · Enrolled
Sierra Canyon's 2025–26 school profile lists twenty-two AP and forty-two honors courses, and every AP student sits the exam. I support enrolled students with steady weekly sessions across math, the sciences, English and history, paced to the school's calendar.
One accountable person with a phone number — not an agency roster. The rhythm below is the same one every family on my calendar gets.
I've worked with LA independent- and neighborhood-school families since 2013. The expectations, the calendars, and the pace are all familiar ground.
Sessions intensify before assessment weeks and ease after. The plan follows your student's actual calendar, not a generic curriculum binder.
I work until 9 PM, in-home across my service area or online — so sessions land after practice or after dinner — not in the middle of a working parent's afternoon.
Same tutor in September and in May, and a written note to you after every single session. You always know where things stand.
Yes — both students applying to Sierra Canyon and students already enrolled there.
Applicants get test prep and practice for the interview's writing component; enrolled students get year-round support across the core subjects. Every session is with me, online or in your home.
Not specifically. Applicants to grades 6–11 must submit standardized testing, and school-administered results such as ERB, CAASPP or MAP count.
The ISEE or SSAT is for students who don't have those results or want to add to them. Scores are due February 1, 2027, and the application itself is due December 15, 2026. Confirm the dates on Sierra Canyon's admission page.

What I bring is thirteen years of working with families at LA's independent and neighborhood schools as an outside, accountable tutor.
